Three years ago, Burt and Burger joined me on the Drink O’Clock Podcast when the show was still in its infancy. At the time, I was worried about finding guests every week. They were late to the recording. Uncle Scott was unemployed. Chaos ruled the conversation.
Fast forward three years.
They are back.
And nothing has changed.
What Happened Over the Last Three Years?
A lot.
New president.
AI taking over the world.
Marriage.
Career moves.
Six years of podcasting without missing a week.
And somehow, Burt and Burger are still exactly who they were the first time they came on.
Burger is now married and house hunting. Burt is still Burt.
But the biggest surprise? Their unexpected TikTok growth strategy.
The “Comment Your County” TikTok Strategy
If you have never heard of it, here is the concept.
Burger goes live on TikTok with a blank U.S. map and asks viewers to comment their county. He colors it in live. For a better chance, viewers are encouraged to follow and subscribe to their YouTube channel.
Simple.
Ridiculous.
Effective.
They have grown tens of thousands of followers and even made thousands of dollars doing it.
Is it genius marketing?
Is it internet brain rot?
Probably both.
But it worked.
Uncle Scott Update
If you listened to their first appearance, you will remember Uncle Scott.
He is still alive.
Still washing dishes.
Still living simply.
Some things in life are permanent fixtures.
Survivor Podcast Flex
Since their first appearance, Burt and Burger have had legitimate Survivor royalty on their show.
Coach, a Survivor legend.
Todd Herzog, a Survivor winner.
For an independent comedy podcast, that is no small accomplishment.
They may be chaotic, but they have built something consistent. Six years. Weekly uploads. No breaks.
That kind of consistency matters.
The Evolution of Independent Podcasting
One thing we discussed during this episode is something every independent creator understands.
You either post weekly no matter what.
Or you protect the quality and skip weeks when necessary.
As Drink O’Clock has grown, I have become more selective. If an episode is not good, it does not go out.
Burt and Burger have posted every single week for six straight years.
Two very different approaches.
Same grind.
Why This Episode Matters
This was not just another guest appearance.
It was a full circle moment.
When they first came on:
- My audience was tiny
- The show was brand new
- Everything felt uncertain
Three years later:
- The podcast has grown
- Their platform has grown
- We have all evolved
But at the core, the dynamic, the humor, and the absurdity are still intact.
And honestly, that is kind of the point.
